NEWS - Builder Confidence Ticks Up to
5-Year High in June 2012In June, Confidence among
U.S.
builders ticked up to a five-year high, an indication that the housing
market is slowly improving.
The National Association of Home Builders/Wells Fargo builder sentiment
index rose in June to 29, the highest reading since May 2007. It increased
from a reading of 28 last month, which was revised down one point from its
initial figure.
The index, which was released earlier this month, has risen in seven of
the past nine months, suggesting builders are starting to see the seeds of a
recovery taking shape after years of stagnation.
In June, builders reported seeing the best sales level since April 2007,
according to a separate measure in the survey. Cheaper mortgages and lower
home prices in many markets have made home buying more attractive. Many
economists believe that housing construction could contribute to overall
economic growth this year for the first time since 2005.
NEWS - March 2012:
Rise Predicted in South Carolina Home Prices will be Good for
Sellers, Builders and Buyers
Americas Home Place News Analysis is reporting promising news for home
buyers and those planning to build a new custom home in South Carolina. Following ten years of
decline, average values for new homes in
South Carolina will improve in 2012, according to
Lawrence Yun, chief economist for the National Association of Realtors.
Addressing industry constituents in Mid-March, Yun cited economic drivers
such as a declining jobless rate in South Carolina and banks flush with money to
lend. While predictions of price increases may alarm some potential new home
buyers, on the whole the news is encouraging.
Americas Home Place
has seen repeated evidence that the national news media has over-reported
the nation’s housing crisis. Frightening reports influence many qualified
would-be home buyers and those desiring to build a new custom home on their
property, to wait unnecessarily to build their new dream homes.
Delaying this important decision could end up costing those planning to
build a custom home. Currently, for qualified buyers, land is available and
relative inexpensive, the costs of building a new custom home are, like
interest rates, extremely competitive.
Rising home values should giver those planning to build a new custom
home, renewed confidence in their investment.
While South Carolina
real estate has pockets where the real estate recovery is moving more
slowly, the state is doing better than the national averages for new starts.
Yun cited the Charleston area as a “hidden bargain” with still relatively
low land prices, easy proximity to established resorts and major economic
boons from recent deals like the coming Boeing plant 2012 PGA golf
Championship which draw attention to the area, especially for those wishing
to build vacation homes or retirement homes.
An independent report by TheState.com said statewide, South Carolina home sales rose 4.8 percent,
with most areas showing improvement.
Midlands real estate improved in
February. Home sales continued their months-long improvement record in Columbia, climbing 7.4 percent over February
2011, according to a report from the S.C. Realtors trade in Mid-March.
